Minority outreach consultant hired

(11/03) -- Welcome to Kimberly Duarte Sauls, MSW, the new Health Check/NC Health Choice Minority Outreach Consultant with the Division of Public Health!

Having grown up in Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas, Kimberly is fluent in English and Spanish. She has worked in a variety of local human service agencies in North Carolina including health departments, social service agencies, and most recently, the Person County Partnership for Children.

Kim has a strong appreciation of the cultural issues that influence health behaviors and will be a wonderful addition to the Health Check/NC Health Choice Team. She has already begun her local work with the populations that she will be serving and looks forward to her work with many of you. She and Gloria Sanchez at the NC Healthy Start Foundation are already teaming up in their outreach to the Latino population.
